About Amy Boren

With architect mother and a pilot father, I grew up learning to appreciate the discipline of structural design on the ground, and the vast, shifting geometries of the world from the skies. That unique vantage point has influenced my artistic practice giving me an appreciation for the world around me and an immense love of travel and exploration.

Two years ago, I moved to Italy, settling in the heart of Tuscany. Here, history is etched into every stone, but I am less interested in the preservation of the past than in the transformation of the present.

In my work, I try to reveal the quiet drama between light and shadow. I search for the moments where solid structures dissolve into abstract forms, stripping away the literal to focus on shape, tension, and depth. This structural deconstruction is brought to life through an exaggerated use of color. I do not aim to record the world as it is, but rather as it feels.
